THE Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) continues to beef up its strength after Senior Deputy Speaker Aurelio “Dong” D. Gonzales Jr. of Pampanga and Reps. Carmelo “Jon” B. Lazatin II of Pampanga and Zaldy S. Villa of Siquijor joined the party which has a total of 77 members in the House of Representatives.
Speaker Romualdez, Lakas-CMD president and leader of the 300-plus strong House of Representatives, said the entry of Gonzales, Lazatin, and Villa who have aligned themselves with the party’s values and principles will further boost the Lakas-CMD’s representation in the bigger chamber.
“We are very honored to welcome Senior Deputy Speaker Dong, Cong. Jon and Cong. Zaldy to our party. They are a great addition to the strength and diversity of Lakas-CMD, which is a coalition of hard-working public servants who share a common goal of serving the Filipino people with integrity and dedication under President Marcos’ administration,” Speaker Romualdez said.
“Our party remains steadfast in its dedication to nation-building and we thank those joining us for committing to contribute to shaping a better and progressive Philippines,” he said.
The three lawmakers were former members of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban).
The oath-taking ceremony was administered by none other than Speaker Romualdez in a simple rite held at the Social Hall of the Office of the Speaker in Batasan Complex, Quezon City.
Speaker Romualdez said they will bring extensive experience and dedication to the party, having served their respective districts with distinction.
“Lakas-CMD is poised to continue its legacy of service to the nation given our unity, diversity, and shared values as its cornerstones,” Speaker Romualdez said.
Last Tuesday, Speaker Romualdez administered the oath to Nueva Ecija 1st District Rep. Mikaela Angela Suansing as Lakas-CMD member which was witnessed by House Majority Leader Manuel Jose “Mannix” M. Dalipe of Zamboanga City and Agusan Del Norte Rep. Jose “Joboy” Aquino. (END)
